Chinese Hospital Finalizing Accreditation Military Hospital Added

The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, which is the standard for excellence in hospital process improvement and accreditation in the U.S., has added Shanghai Chest Hospital and Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Command to its list of accredited hospitals.

"We are honored to be the accreditation group selected by this part of the China market to improve cardiovascular care," said Society Chief Executive Officer Wil Mick. "Exporting our expertise is important for our mission of eliminating cardiovascular disease as the world's number one cause of death."

The Society is expanding what is already the largest product offering for process improvement in the heart health industry. It brings end-to-end and comprehensive solutions to hospitals and accredits facilities throughout the world.

"We'll continue to be innovative," added J. Lee Garvey, MD, who is Medical Director, Chest Pain Evaluation Center, Department of Emergency Medicine, Carolinas Medical Center.

Dr. Garvey is a founding member, former president, and current member of the Board at the Society. He accompanied the team for the site review process.

He added that the Society's Board -- made up of 27 of the most highly recognized and well-known cardiovascular and emergency medicine physicians in the world -- was enthused about the expansion with Chinese hospitals.

"We're so much more than just chest pain," said Deborah Koeppen, Director of Business Development. "Hospitals that use our process, and executives who embrace our initiatives, have shown themselves to be an elite group, who differentiate themselves in the market."
