STEMI 2008 Boot Camp

This workshop is structured towards those who wish to significantly improve door to reperfusion times at their institution regardless of size or preferred treatment strategies. It is geared towards all institutions that treat STEMI patients –PCI and non-PCI centers alike. It's goal is to provide the concrete tools and strategies for developing excellence in STEMI care.
In addition, this workshop will focus on the development of regional approaches to STEMI care. We will specifically address in detail methods and strategies for working cooperatively with surrounding institutions and regional EMS to develop reasonable and realistic strategies for regionalized STEMI care that are flexible and patient centered.
STEMI 2008 Boot Camp: Achieving Excellence in Door-to-Reperfusion Times at YOUR Institution…..and beyond
Time to treatment in patients with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) is perhaps THE benchmark by which an institute's cardiac care is measured. Under intense scrutiny by the government, public and quality organizations alike, it's also the focus of major new initiatives by the ACC and others. Excellence in this area is of paramount importance, yet hard to achieve.
Objective: “STEMI 2008” a practical, focused “door to reperfusion boot camp” will involve lecture, case studies, small group facilitation and real-world scenarios. Participants will be exposed to an in-depth analysis of the entire process and the specific difficulties commonly encountered. Practiced strategies to avoid and counter delay and indecision will be discussed, with emphasis on solutions. Participants will be offered the opportunity to actually work on issues pertinent to their hospitals and systems, the goal being that they leave the workshop with actualized ideas to implement at their institution.
Post-Conference Workshop Fee is $300 per person. Post-Conference workshop fees are not included in the conference registration fee.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The UMMS designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s) ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 21.25 hours of ACEP Category I credit.
CONTACT HOURS - Nurses
This offering meets the requirements for 27 contact hours for nurses as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in nursing (244-CMR 5.04). Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity .
