The Society Research Award Program supports clinical research in the areas of acute care of patients with chest pain, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

The Research Award program awards two $10,000 grants for research conducted over a one-year period.

Before submitting your application, please be sure that the following items have been addressed:


  • Information page is fully completed and included as the first page of the application packet
  • Table of Contents is included in the application packet and is adhered to strictly
  • Type size is no smaller than 15 characters per inch (use 12-pt. font if you are unsure)
  • Evidence of IRB approval, or submission to IRB, from each institution
  • Clearly stated research hypothesis
  • Letter of support from your Department Chair
  • Letter of support from each co-investigator
  • Budget and budget justification
  • Other grant support for all investigators

The request for proposals seeks research related to the following topics:


  • Acute care of chest pain
  • Heart failure
  • Atrial fibrillation

Succesful proposals focus on:


  • Definitions and outcome measures of these patients
  • Diagnostic strategies
  • Potential solutions to the systematic challenges of evaluating these patients

Priority will be given to applications that address the following areas:


  • Novel diagnostic strategies in evaluating patients with chest pain of unclear etiology
  • Heart failure management in an observation setting
  • Patients presenting with atrial fibrillation

Application Process


Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from any healthcare professional.
Deadline: Deadline for submission is January 6, 2013.

Formerly known as the Society of Chest Pain Centers, the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care will focus on facility accreditation and certification for Chest Pain Centers, Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS), Heart Failure (HF), and Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib). In addition, SCPC will provide certification for Chest Pain Center Coordinators, nurses, administrators and Chief Financial Officers looking to be compliant with CMS guidelines for Quality, Cost and Customer Satisfaction.
